Call forwarding

Let Ash answer your phone when you can't

Keep your own number. When you're on another call, miss a ring or have no signal, your carrier sends the call to Ash instead of voicemail — and you get the details in the app.

The codes to dial

Dial each code from your phone as if it were a number, then press call. Set all three.

On an iPhone, don't use Settings › Phone › Call Forwarding — it forwards every call, not just the ones you miss.

  • No answer

When you don't pick up. Your phone rings first.

    *61*[your Ash number]#
  • Busy

When you're already on a call, or you decline it.

    *67*[your Ash number]#
  • Unreachable

When your phone is off or has no signal.

    *62*[your Ash number]#

By carrier

The codes work on most Canadian carriers, but each has its own rules about add-ons, voicemail and charges. Find yours below, then follow its link for the current details.

Rogers

Canada-wide

Use the three codes above. Rogers says conditional forwarding won't work while voicemail is on, so ask Rogers to remove voicemail from your line first.

To stop one, dial ##61#, ##67# or ##62#.

Rogers: call forwarding

Fido

Canada-wide · Rogers brand

Use the three codes above; they need voicemail off your line. Forwarding goes to Canadian and US numbers only, which your Ash number is.

Fido bills forwarded minutes at a pay-per-use rate unless you add Call Forwarding, and they never come out of your plan's minutes. To stop one, dial ##61#, ##67# or ##62#.

chatr

Canada-wide prepaid · Rogers brand

chatr doesn't publish conditional forwarding steps. As a Rogers brand, the codes above are the ones to try; if they're refused, ask chatr to take voicemail off your line and confirm your plan includes forwarding. Long distance may apply.

Bell

Canada-wide

Bell sets forwarding from your phone's call settings: choose Call Forwarding, pick the calls you don't answer, and enter your Ash number. An iPhone offers only forwarding for every call, so try the codes above or ask Bell.

Forwarding is a monthly add-on, or billed per minute if your plan doesn't include it. Long distance is extra. To go back to voicemail, choose Deactivate All.

Virgin Plus

Canada-wide · Bell brand

Virgin Plus sets forwarding from your phone's settings, to any North American number. Forwarded calls are charged like any other call, and long distance applies.

Its guide doesn't cover forwarding only unanswered or busy calls — try the codes above, and ask Virgin Plus if they're refused.

Lucky Mobile

Canada-wide prepaid · Bell brand

Lucky Mobile says call forwarding is currently unavailable, so this line can't be forwarded to Ash. You can still give clients your Ash number directly.

Public Mobile

Use the three codes above. Forwarding is free within Freedom's and its Nationwide networks, to Canadian numbers only.

To stop one, dial #61#, #67# or #62#.

SaskTel

Saskatchewan

Busy, No Answer and Unreachable forwarding are separate features you subscribe to. Once they're on, set them from your phone's call settings or with the codes above; without a number of your own, SaskTel sends them to voicemail.

No Answer waits five rings. To change it, add the seconds: *61*your number**20# rings for 20.

Vidéotron

Quebec and Ontario

We haven't confirmed Vidéotron's steps. Try the codes above; if they're refused, ask Vidéotron to forward busy, unanswered and unreachable calls to your Ash number.

On an Android phone.

Most Android phones have the three options built in: open the Phone app, then Settings › Calls › Call forwarding (the names vary by maker), and enter your Ash number under When busy, When unanswered and When unreachable. It sets the same forwarding the codes do.

Check it works.

From another phone, call your own number and let it ring out. Ash should answer, and the call should show in the app a minute or two after you hang up. If you hear your old voicemail instead, your carrier still has it on — ask them to take it off.

Voicemail
Some carriers — Rogers and Fido say so outright — won't forward conditionally while their voicemail is on. If a code is refused, ask your carrier to take voicemail off your line. Ash replaces it.
Charges
Some carriers bill forwarded minutes, or need a call forwarding add-on first. Your carrier's section above says what we know; its own page has the current price.
Your Ash number
It's the number the Ash app showed you when setup finished. Open this page from there and it's filled into the codes for you.
